We're back. Chicago was fun and Rudy and I had a great time. The weather was oddly chilly, and the city was indeed very windy, but it was still nice to be away. The We're Rollin' They're Hatin' show was phenomenal. It was inspirational, energizing, and mindblowing all at once. The gallery had some pretty typical gallery hours, so we made sure we arrived about 45 minutes after they were supposed to open. When we got there, the door was locked. We loitered around the building peeking in the windows, and soon enough we were noticed by one of the owners who was inside smoking, drinking some Red Bull, and sweeping floors. He let us in right away and seemed honestly thrilled that we had driven all the way from Ohio to check out the show. We spent a good amount of time in the gallery wandering around, checking out all the art, and talking to the guy who had let us in. I'll have some photos of the show and the trip sometime soon I think. Rudy and I also made the required stops at Quimby's and Reckless Records. While Reckless is not quite on par with Aquarius Records or New York's Other Music, I did pick up some great discs. I found "Tunog Pinoy" from Filipino stoner rock god Wally Gonzalez, the self-titled 1970 disc from Colombian psychedelic jazz outfit Bwana, the heavy and way far out electric earblast "Prayer of Death" from Entrance, the lo-fi and strangely mythologically folky "Funeral Dirge Ov Thee Crowe King" by Cloud Temple, and Growing's new CD "Vision Swim." Then, when I got home late on Sunday, the mailbox had a nice envelope from VHF Records which contained "Cloudz" from Sunroof!, "Relayer" from youngsbower, and the new Vibracathredal Orchestra release "Wisdom Thunderbolt." It is going to be a very musical summer, so if you want any new sounds just let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

I won't be posting for a few days because I will be in Chicago visiting the We're Rollin' They're Hatin' art show, among other things. We're Rollin' They're Hatin' is "a large-scale contemporary art show that examines the role of Dungeons and Dragons, Escapism and Fantasy in contemporary art and culture." The web site is well worth visiting and will give you a pretty decent idea of the kind of amazing art at the show, which includes work from some of my favorites like Paper Rad, Chloe and Yannick of Seripop, Justin B. Williams, AZStar78 who sometimes goes by his given name Daniel Anthony St. George II, and Kevin Hooyman among many many others. It should be a pretty amazing show full of incredible art, and I'll take lots of pictures to share with you when I return. We'll probably be visiting Quimby's and Reckless Records as well so I think it will be a pretty choice weekend. Even though I had been raving about the show for quite some time, deciding to hop in the car and make the short drive to Chicago was actually Rudy's idea entirely, and she somehow found a way to make it all happen and in very last-minute fashion. We're both really quite excited, and it's amazing to think that two short weeks after we visit Chicago we will be in San Francisco, although Rudy will actually be spending the majority of that time working. At least I can wander around for a bit, and we will have our evenings free together.

On account of Fitzwater I knew the answer to the question, so after telling Sebastian and the Sheep what it was I slept like a baby.

Last night I had another amazing dream. In this dream, I was in the backyard of a small and rather threadbare home in the poorer outskirts of Cochabamba, Bolivia. I was sitting opposite a very earnest father of 4 named Sebastian Escalante and, most importantly, the magical Sheep Whose Wool Is Softer Than The Inner Thigh Of A Young Virgin Girl. Sebastian, the Sheep and I talked for what seemed like weeks, and all the while Javier, who was Sebastian's eldest son, kept walking back and forth and occasionally drinking milk from a cracked yellow mug. We talked of many things, but gradually the conversation settled on one single pressing question, a question posed by the Sheep, a question I knew that I must find the answer to before all was lost. I didn't know the answer then, so I told the Sheep I would marinate on it. The Sheep said that in order to be certain I would not forget this question, it would be emailed to me at precisely 7 a.m. the following morning. I was so excited to wake up and see if it was really true so I slept really fast and to my amazement the Sheep was telling the truth! There in my inbox was an email from the sheep with a JPEG of one single shining second from our weeks together there in the poorer outskirts of Cochabamba, Bolivia, and the question. See?

i need to know the answer!

So please, if any of you know the answer, email me. It's really important and I need to know before I see Sebastian and the Sheep again!

Last night I had an amazing dream. In this dream, I was given a vision of myself in the future and I saw that I was not only incredible but I also had magnificent powers. And also in this dream, seven cows ate seven sheaves of grain, and then the seven cows flew to the tops of the seven highest towers in the land and bellowed in strangely musical voices that this image of myself in the future would be emailed to be at precisely 7 a.m. the following morning. I was so excited to wake up and see if it was really true so I slept really fast and to my amazement the seven cows were telling the truth! There in my inbox was an email from the seven cows which stated "Here is a special magical picture of your future self and a reminder of the magnificent power you will have. Be good and don't fuck up and this will be you. Lucky lucky boy" And of course, an attached JPEG of the vision of myself that I was gifted with during my slumber. So here it is, gentle readers...a vision of Matt Kish and his amazing powers in the world of 21 years from now...

Isn't that wonderful! This feels like the first day of the rest of my life! I'm serious! It's like...nothing can stop me now. The next 21 years are going to be the best EVER.
